In early 2007 I took early retirement from British Telecom to start a new career teaching Information Technology to Adults. During most of my career with BT I was involved with training colleagues to some degree and I am now able to practice teaching full time having recently qualified through achieving stage 1 of the City & Guilds 7407 course (which I took during 2006/7).

The City & Guilds 7407 is a Level 4 Certificate and is a nationally recognised qualification that is designed for full and part time teachers who are practising in further education.

I also hold premier certification from Microsoft. I am a Microsoft Certified System Engineer for Windows NT4, 2000 and 2003 and also a Microsoft Certified System Administrator for Windows 2000 and 2003.
In addition I am also a Nortel Networks Certified Support Specialist.

I am also involved with volunteer work in schools through the "BT Volunteers" programme.

BT Volunteers is an initiative which facilitates a delivery programme to support the communication skills element of the BT Better World Campaign . The Volunteers work with young people in schools and youth groups, primarily helping to improve their speaking and listening skills. It involves BT people directly in community activity and provides a practical example of Corporate Responsibility in action

There are nearly 3,000 BT Volunteers who are BT, ex-BT and Friends and Family and are all are Disclosure checked and trained to deliver speaking and listening skills activities in the classroom for FREE.
